What is the Editable KS2 World History Timeline resource?
This pack includes editable world history timelines fully aligned with the National Curriculum. The timelines cover the Greeks, the Egyptians, Ancient Sumer, Indus Valley, Benin, Baghdad, Maya and Shang. While some of these units are statutory, schools are not required to teach all the topics listed. Instead, you are likely to select units that best support progression, prior learning, and cross-curricular links.
How can the resources be used?
Each period of history has its own timeline, with two timelines per page to make printing easier. Children can cut out the provided labels and glue them onto the timelines.
We recommend that Year 3 pupils place their labels onto a timeline that has already been marked with dates. To show progression, Year 4 pupils could first add their own date markings to a timeline that is set out in 500-year increments, before placing the labels in the correct order.
In addition, there are three different blank timeline templates:
These provide support with adaptive teaching.
