What is included in The Stone, Bronze and Iron Age Pack? 

This resource features a clear and engaging Stone, Bronze and Iron Age timeline, specifically designed to help Key Stage 2 pupils understand the major developments in prehistoric Britain. Beginning around 10,000 BC, the timeline introduces the end of the Old Stone Age (Palaeolithic) and explores how early hunter-gatherers survived by hunting animals and gathering plants. Pupils learn about the beginning of the New Stone Age (Neolithic) around 4000 BC, when people began farming crops and keeping animals, followed by the development of permanent settlements and the construction of impressive stone monuments such as Stonehenge.

The resource also explores the beginning of the Bronze Age around 2500 BC, when people learned to make bronze by mixing copper and tin, and how bronze was used to create stronger tools, weapons and jewellery. Pupils then discover the beginning of the Iron Age around 800 BC, when iron tools and weapons became increasingly important, as well as the development of hill forts around 600 BC to protect communities. The timeline concludes with the Roman invasion of Britain in 43 AD, marking the end of the Iron Age in Britain and helping pupils understand how prehistoric Britain developed and changed over thousands of years.

In addition, the pack includes a set of sequencing cards and a printable timeline activity. These hands-on resources allow children to place important Stone, Bronze and Iron Age events in chronological order, helping them visualise how history unfolds over time.
