What is included in The Romans Pack?

This resource features a clear and engaging Romans timeline, specifically designed to help Key Stage 2 pupils understand the key events of Roman history and Roman Britain. Beginning with the legendary founding of Rome by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC, the timeline follows the development of the Roman Republic before exploring Rome’s growing involvement in Britain. Pupils learn about Julius Caesar’s invasions in 55 BC and 54 BC, followed by Emperor Claudius’s successful invasion in 43 AD, which began Roman rule across much of Britain.

The resource also explores how Roman Britain developed through the building of roads, forts, towns, public baths, amphitheatres and temples, showing how Roman rule changed everyday life. Key events such as the construction of Hadrian’s Wall around 122 AD help pupils understand how the Romans defended their territory. The timeline concludes with the Roman withdrawal from Britain in 410 AD and considers the lasting Roman legacy, including roads, buildings, language and laws that continued to influence Britain long after the Romans had left.

In addition, the pack includes a set of sequencing cards and a printable timeline activity. These hands-on resources allow children to place important Roman events in chronological order, helping them visualise how history unfolds over time. This interactive element strengthens comprehension, reinforces prior learning, and encourages collaborative discussion as pupils justify their choices and reflect on historical cause and effect.
