What is included in The Anglo Saxons & Vikings Pack?
This resource pack features a detailed and engaging PowerPoint presentation exploring the key events of the Viking and Anglo-Saxon period in Britain, specifically designed for Key Stage 2 pupils. The slides trace the Viking Age from the raid on Lindisfarne in 793 AD through to the Norman Conquest in 1066 AD. Pupils learn about Alfred the Great’s resistance to Viking attacks, the creation of the Danelaw, and the efforts of Edward the Elder and Athelstan to unite England. The resource also explores the renewed Viking invasions under Æthelred the Unready, the reign of the Viking king Cnut, and Edward the Confessor’s return to the English throne. A clear timeline helps pupils understand how conflict, settlement and changing rulers shaped England and ultimately led to the struggle for the throne in 1066 AD.
In addition, the pack includes a set of sequencing cards and a printable timeline activity. These hands-on resources allow children to place important Anglo-Saxon & Viking events in chronological order, helping them visualise how history unfolds over time. This interactive element strengthens comprehension, reinforces prior learning, and encourages collaborative discussion as pupils justify their choices and reflect on historical cause and effect.
