This staff meeting will support teachers in developing their understanding of historical enquiry and interpretation including how to draw contrasts, sift arguments and frame historically valid questions, provide practical activity ideas linked to their key stage topics, and offer time to adapt planning in line with these suggestions.
This unique approach to staff meetings is:
- Aligned with the national curriculum and led by the subject leader
- Designed to give the history subject leader confidence and ownership of the meeting
- Focused and purposeful, with short, tailored recordings for each key stage
In the resources section for this staff meeting there is:
- Guidance for the history subject leader on organisation of the meeting
- A list of resources and task sheets needed for each key stage
How is this unique approach to staff meetings organised?

Our leads have delivered the historical enquiry and interpretation and geography maps skills staff meeting so far. We were then given the opportunity to go into our key stage and complete the tasks- such a good idea! This asked us to collaborate on what we were already doing but also to improve the teaching and delivery of these lessons. Both staff meetings were really beneficial.
