Working with Jo has been truly transformative. In September 2022, we set out to completely redesign our wider curriculum offer. We knew that we wanted to create a bespoke curriculum that would inspire and engage all of our children. However, it was difficult to know where to start given that we had so many areas that we felt needed considerable work. Subject leaders were keen to lead their subjects well but lacked confidence in their own subject knowledge and leadership skills.
Jo not only worked with subject leaders to rewrite each area of the curriculum, she also helped to develop them as leaders, enabling them to feel confident in carrying out monitoring and evaluation activities and thus drive whole school improvements. Jo also delivered staff training to fill gaps in teachers’ subject knowledge which led to concepts such as chronology and map work being taught progressively throughout school.
In the run up to Ofsted, Jo went above and beyond to ensure that subject leaders felt confident to take part in a deep dive and could talk with passion and confidence about their subject – even taking it upon herself to visit school on the evening before inspection to offer last minute tips and advice.

The school has designed an exciting and ambitious curriculum which ensures that pupils learn successfully across a range of subjects… It has ensured that pupils learn a vibrant curriculum which builds their academic knowledge as well as pride in the local area. For example, pupils learn about local history and the legacy left by influential figures. The school has set out the most important knowledge and vocabulary that pupils need to learn.
In summary, Jo has played a pivotal role in our school’s development, and we are immensely grateful for her contributions. The impact she has had will be felt for years to come, and I wholeheartedly recommend her services to any school seeking to design an exciting curriculum that meets the needs of their children.
